"My Lifestyle Wasn't Holding Me Back, I Was!"
Hi, my name is Tina and I’ve been asked to share my journey with you. I trained with my best friend for 11 years but due to his job change we were no longer able to train together so after 6 months of training on my own I gradually stopped going. Then in 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and after 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 4 weeks of radiotherapy I threw myself into 2017 with vengeance. There was me thinking I was living life to the full but really I was getting very depressed with not bouncing back to my old self as quickly as I thought I would. I gained 2 stone in weight and put a lot of that down to our lifestyle - we are out on a regular basis, we holiday a lot and we entertain often. It took me 18 months to realise I was in a hole and needed to make some changes to my life.
The first step is always the hardest but having watched my daughter Emma excel at
RAW I knew where I wanted to head. I contacted RAW and became their first
August Amigo of 2018, picture below. I met Chloe and Tom, who are lovely, with
Chloe being my Personal Trainer. She was very understanding and full of good and
useful information for me to put into action straight away. My priority, to begin with, was to just get to the gym 3 times a week with a programme that I could train on my own. Chloe set me on my road to training but also suggested some of their classes which, at first, I was very reluctant to join as I was very self conscious.
Over the next few weeks I got to meet Sharon and (little) Tom whilst training on my own, they are always happy to chat and help and made me feel very at ease. I decided I’d join a couple of the classes which I absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed and I try do at least 2 classes a week along with my own training and Personal Training with Chloe. I am weighed and measured every 2 weeks, which at first I dreaded, but with the encouragement, help and support of Chloe and the rest of the team I have enjoyed challenging, learning and re-shaping myself.
I have lost a staggering 39cm all over and almost 8kg so far (journey planner pictured), so really my lifestyle wasn’t holding me back it was me!
